M&S ss15 Fashion Show

culottes - asos
boots - zara

On thursday night i had the pleasure of attending the M&S ss15 fashion show in manchester. As i had never even seen a fashion show before, i was super excited and pretty surprised i've lived 21 years without experiencing one. I was so jealous of everyones LFW photos so this definitely gave me a slight pick me up!

The collection was stunning, with so many whites co ords dominating the outfits. Also, a huge plus was spending the evening watching male models strut down a catwalk in suits whilst sipping prosecco! Afterwards we headed to Wagamama and enjoyed my absolute fave dish, Yaki Udon! Thanks again to Hannah from hannahlouisef for the tickets!

My Many Hairstyles

I've recently been considering changing my hair style up and that thought led me to realise that i have done A LOT with my hair the past few years and no one has seen it as it was before i started this blog. In all my posts i have the same hair style: long, wavy and of course, a full fringe. Apart from laughing at the hideous photos of me above,  i've decided to compile a mini timeline of the many traumatic experiences my hair has been through over the past 5 years and my opinions on them if you are interested! Grab a tea, its a long one..

Sept 2010
Many of you would be surprised that in Sept 2011 i had all my hair chopped off in favour of the very famous 'Frankie Sandford' pixie bob. It was literally so short that i had a razor to my head to get it that length. I absolutely loved having this style up until about 2 months and then i wanted nothing more than to have it back the way it was before it was cut- long enough that it was nearly down to my bum! During my short hair phase, i dyed my hair from its natural chestnut brown to black and then stripped the hair colour and dyed it again to an auburn colour.

January 2011
By this point i was getting pretty sick of the short hair and becoming very 'long hair sick'. Especially when i saw so many stunning girls with long hair, all i could think about was how much i regretted having the chop. My hair was still so short i would've looked ridic with clip in hair extensions so i decided to splash out and have a weave. If you dont know what a weave is, its basically where you have hair sewn into your own hair at the hairdressers and it cost me around £100, but the price is dependent on the salon. It took 3 hours for the hair to be sewn in but once it was done i was over the moon! i had lovely long hair again and you really couldn't tell it was extensions. If anyone was thinking of having extensions long term done at the hairdressers, i would definitely recommend a weave over anything else as it doesn't involved nasty chemicals/glue which can seriously damage your hair.

May 2011
By this point my hair had grown out so much that i had my weave removed and my hair was about grazing-shoulder length. I still felt like i looked like a boy so i started wearing clip in extensions. Now this is where i did a lot of learning. Firstly, i wore extensions that just blatantly didn't match my hair colour, so tip number 1: make sure the extensions COMPLETELY match your hair colour. I also learnt how to care for them, with washing them every 2 weeks and making sure you use moisturising products as they become drier than your actual hair a lot faster. I have also learnt that curling the ends of your hair and the extensions can sometimes help hide a blunt cut and the showing difference between your hair and the extensions.

December 2011
I decided to re-dye my hair this time from its dry, auburn colour to a normal 'medium brown' which worked out ok but i still didnt understand that concept of having completely matching hair extensions! This colour also had a tendency to fade as the light colour kept coming through from my previous hair colour.

February 2012
The famous fringe (which i'm well known for by my friends) was cut in and i've never looked back! I was inspired by an old photo of myself at 4yrs old with a fringe and thought 'why the heck not?' I definitely think this hair style suits me the most over all the previous years as i probably have a big forehead that just needed covering! From then on i decided to try grow my hair as long as i possibly could, as long hair was still the aim here as my hair took SO LONG to grow back.

May 2013
I heard the saying from my hairdresser friend 'the colour that every person suits the most is their natural hair colour. However you can enhance this by going 1 or 2 shades lighter or darker than that. So thats exactly what i did! I dyed my hair a jet blue-black colour as i also became obsessed with wanting to enhance my 'thai features' LOL.

Basically after this point all i've been doing is re-dying my hair every 6-8 weeks the same colour and letting my length grow out to the point where it is now an acceptably long length. I still wear hair extensions everyday due to the pure thinness and nothingness which is my hair thanks to my thai mum who has very thin, yet silky hair. I do try to have 'off' days as my hair is thinning out even more now due to the strain but wearing them becomes unbelievably addictive! The past year i thought i had finally found my hair 'niche' and i found the style which suits me the most. However i cannot help but feel that temptation yet again to change this up drastically. Has anyone else made drastic changes to their hair? Sorry for the HUGE post and well done if you made it this far!

Rachel

Risky

top - forever 21
trousers - topshop
running shoes - zara

It definitely wasn't the right weather for this top, so please don't be fooled by this outfit as i definitely needed a huge coat! This top is typically supposed to be a tight, peplum style, however as there was only a large left i thought i could try and style it casually. I can't believe another London Fashion Week has been and gone and i still haven't been! I've spent the past few days in the library and i cannot describe the amount of jealousy i have felt for everyones amazing outfits over the weekend!

All Black Basket

I can't help but think that this selection of items isn't really in keeping with everyone's wishes of a spring wardrobe, however for me, black and white is everything all year round! I'm currently OBSESSED with pinstripe and i am definitely going to be adding many pinstripe-d items to my very large collection of clothes, including this gorgeous little cami from topshop. I've tried to include items which can be tailored towards a spring wardrobe, with these amazing pointed flats from zara which are difficult for me to resist- its every single pointed toe shoe that gets me!

Anyways i'm so happy to inform you that i've just booked a trip to Thailand for a month this summer and words cannot describe how excited i am! Half my family is from there and i cannot wait to visit them and travel round and explore/learn the thai culture. If anyone has any tips then please feel free to leave them in the comments, i'll need all the help i can get!

Arbonne Vegan Skincare

everything - arbonne*

I was recently sent the cutest package from Arbonne, which is a company that promotes cruelty free formulas based on botanical principles and a green legacy. I was so excited to try all the products in the package, as I've recently been on a health kick and also been wanting to treat my skin and hair the same, without any suspicious chemicals and going all natural.

The first product i tried was the shampoo, which i noticed didn't lather as much as i'd hoped, however did the job very well and left my hair feeling squeaky clean. The smell was something i hadn't expected, however it didn't put me off. Next the conditioner made me hair smell and feel super soft and shiny which i definitely needed after a very unattractive time at the gym. The cleanser and toner really made a difference to my skin, as it made my skin feel amazingly clean and refreshed, removing all of my makeup and no panda eyes in sight. My favourite product of all that i used was the FC5 oil absorbing daily moisturiser which literally made my skin feel amazing! It felt so soft that i actually couldn't stop touching my face, which is a bit sad, however shows how much i loved this moisturiser, which also completely prevented my skin from becoming oily. I then used the hair serum whilst my hair was damp, which didn't make a huge difference, however my hair did feel slightly softer and smelt incredible! I think i didn't notice too much of a difference as i had only recently dyed my hair, so it still has the colour shine from the dye on it. Meaning if the serum had made my hair colour more vibrant, i wouldn't have noticed due to the recent dye treatment. The foundation was then applied and had a lovely consistency and great coverage, matching my yellow undertoned skin colour perfectly. I'm also a huge fan of foundation containing SPF.

A tea was also provided, which was refreshing and tasted a lot like pure green tea, although slightly heavier. I also liked the fact this was caffeine free as i am trying so hard to cut down on coffees and caffeine lately. I was then a little wary of trying the energy fizz stick, as i've never really tried anything of the sort before. I had it as recommended, and dissolved it in a glass of water as a replacement for my morning coffee and it really made me feel refreshed and ready for the day, definitely a positive change to the embarrassing amount of coffee i consume day to day. All in all i'm impressed with the vegan skincare/makeup/essentials. The products are a little on the pricey side however overall i felt i was doing my skin, hair and body a bit of natural goodness which was an improvement on a few products i had been using!

2 Shades of Grey

skirt - asos
boots - zara

Long time no ootd, however here it is! This is what i wore today during a solo shopping trip which well and truly refreshed my mind, my wardrobe, blog, and drained my bank. It was so nice to actually go out and shop without any uni stresses in the back of my mind, which i haven't done since November. I've currently been glued to the Stylekick app, an amazing app for style inspiration as everyone on there wears the most amazing outfits, putting me to shame, and is also where i found inspiration for this current outfit! You can also link the items that you have worn on the app, making every outfit shoppable! I thought i would put my own spin on the grey co ords i've seen becoming hyped recently and use different shades of grey...which i also didn't realise coincided with the release of 50 shades of grey this saturday until i was thinking of a title for this post. I'm still undecided whether to watch the film yet, however i'm not sure i can resist Jamie Dornan for much longer... is anyone going to watch it?

Also sorry i cannot give where the bag is from, i bought it from a vintage shop in spain where i was on my hols in December!

Here are a few blogs that i'm currently glued to reading recently, as even though i haven't been posting much on my own, i still can't get away from blogs! All these gorgeous girls have amazing style and look absolutely flawless in all their posts, so i definitely thought they couldn't go without a mention on here. On another note, I have just received news that i have landed my absolute dream job!! So hopefully a lot of my stresses are gone and i can resume to normal posting once again soon. I will do a post sometime in the near future about the job i landed and what it involves and how i got it etc. if anyone is interested! If you are let me know and hopefully see you on here soon from now on!

Topshop Lip Bullets

lip bullets - topshop

I recently received these gorgeous lip colours off my housemate as a present and i fell in love with them so much i just had to share them. They come in the colours 'wine gum' and 'motel' and the formula is such a lovely creamy texture. They're the perfect size just to pop in your bag for the day for a casual lip colour such as motel, or wine gum for a pop of drama if you're in the mood. They also came in the cutest little white box packaging with a coral inside to it! Sorry I haven't been posting as frequently lately. I feel as though i've lost a bit of mojo with my blog recently and finding it hard to find the love for it again. Its probably down to the immense stress of 3rd year, and with me needing a little bit of a step back just to enjoy uni and chill a bit more. Hopefully I can find my mojo to post more often again! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

February Wishlist

frdsz

Happy February and i'm gonna start off this post by apologising for my disappearance off the face of the planet since the last post which was aageess ago (for me). I was under an immense amount of stress coming up to my last exam, so blogging was the last thing on my mind! then i finally had that out the way i felt like all my energy had been sucked out of me and i needed a mini holiday where i didn't do any work or anything of the sort. then after THAT i've been preparing for the interview of a lifetime which is on wednesday, and is for my ultimate dream job so i'm back on the stress train again. I seriously can't wait for all of this to be over so sorry i haven't done an outfit post in a while, it will be on its way shortly! On a more positive note....how gorgeous are those sandals?! I tried to to tailor this post to a more casual vibe, as i haven't been dressing up nice or going anywhere requiring more of a dress code then: leggings, so i thought i would feature items which i'll be more inclined to where right now. However i couldn't resist putting these gorgeous shoes in and i will definitely be purchasing these for my next outing to celebrate the end of exams and interview stress!
