Guest Apperance

TOP: NEWLOOK
PLIMSOLES: ZARA

For once, i decided to stray away from the lens and actually feature my boyfriend, Francis for this post. Obviously I don't like to publicise my relationship all over my blog, but I've always been a fan of his sense of minimalistic style and fashion and seeing as its very similar to my own, i thought i'd give him a little post. He was a bit apprehensive to be featured on here as he's occasionally behind the camera but with a little encouragement he agreed!

He also has a blog, which is totally unrelated to fashion but is more of a daily diary and dealing with everyday struggles.

Cold Spell

TOP: H&M
SHORTS: MISSGUIDED*
BLAZER: FOREVER 21
SLIDERS: PRIMARK

I'm not sure what's gotten into the weather lately but this outfit definitely didnt fit in with today's forecast. I really hope this recent cold spell isn't the beginning of the end (of summer). However, i braved the cold enough to show my new h&m purchase from a few weeks ago that I haven't even had time to show yet due to my current all-working life during summer. I do love a bit of mesh, and for £4, this top was a bargain.

This month I made myself a goal to try and blog every other day and so far I don't think I'm doing too bad (minus a few blips). I wish i had exciting things to tell you such as trips and holidays, but no, just more and more work for me. Hopefully everyones having a more exciting time than me!

Blogs On The Block

Its been since December since I've done this, but i love reading these kind of posts to find new blogs to follow and love so i thought i'd share a few of my current favourite blogs at the moment so go have a nosey!

Amy has such an edgy, casual and laid back style which i am insanely jealous of as her looks are always perfect but look so effortless!

This girl has the most gorgeous style and I always, always read and follow her beauty reviews to know whats worth the purchase or not!

I am insanely jealous of where Danielle lives in NYC. Her city style is amazing and always spot on.

Hayley suffers from M.E, POTS and fibromyalgia. Her blog is such an inspiration as it documents her making the most of life, struggles, tips and living with chronic illnesses.

Radical Skincare Advanced Peptide Antioxidant Serum

I wouldn't leave this review if I didn't feel like it was my duty to inform you how amazing my skin looks/feels after using this for a couple of weeks. On lookfantastic.com, this serum is claimed to contain antioxidants and 'trylacel technology' involving the combination of antioxidant complex, repair actives and skin calming features which is probably why it comes at a hefty price. It also says that this serum is suitable for all skin types.

I have oily/combination skin and I had never used a serum before i had tried this. After my first use of this before bed, my skin felt so much smoother and in the morning, i noticed my skin was a lot clearer and had a much more healthier glow to it. Its absorbed quickly by your skin so you're not sat waiting around for your face to dry. I used it after my cleanser, toner and before my moisturiser. However, during my first week or so of using this every morning and night, my skin broke out more than usual as I felt the serum was somehow drawing out all my impurities. After that my skin just felt a lot more hydrated, healthier and skin tone more even. I also feel like I'm using waaay less foundation then i was prior to using this, as my acne and scarring are dissappearing and my skin is developing an even, bright tone without makeup.

Disadvantages obviously include the price, which is definitely far out of a lot of people's budget just for a serum. However it could be justified by the less makeup you need to wear whilst using this, which is looking at this product as more of an investment. Also like i mentioned earlier, the first week of using this did cause me major breakouts so perseverance was the key to see the full effects of this serum. So if you do have the money to splash out and treat yourself to a serum I would highly recommend this if you have acne prone, oily/combination skin like me.

How To Prepare For Uni

As the A Level results came out this week and many of you across the country made it into uni, i felt inspired to make a video giving my advice on some important things to take to uni, aswell as a few tips on settling in and surviving freshers also. If you're anything like I was starting first year, I would've liked to watch a video which hopefully isn't too daunting from a student, giving a few tips to put my mind at ease. Hope its useful!

White Bomber

TOP: TOPSHOP (similar)
SANDALS: PRIMARK

Around 7 months ago, i scoured nearly every online store i knew looking for a white bomber jacket and i was so surprised to find out there just wasn't a single bomber jacket anywhere in the online world (within budget)! A few months down the line and i found the perfect bomber jacket in Topshop: lightweight, comfortable and structured which is definitely what I was after.

I teamed it with my topshop joggers (which i would suggest go a size down in) and, at risk of looking like i was a chav if i wore trainers, my new Primark sliders which i basically stole at £5?!

Good luck and congrats to anyone who received their a level results today and will be attending university in september! I wish more than anything i was in your position and about to start the massive, amazing journey ahead of me at 1st year, but alas, into my 3rd year I go...

Lush Lip Scrub

I am no way a beauty blogger, as I dont know (and can't even pretend to know) a great deal about skin care, but like most girls I like to take good care of my skin and make sure its in the best condition it can possibly be in. So I love to experiment and try different products, hoping (and praying) they can fix the states that my skin gets itself in sometimes.

Over the past few months I've been going through a mini 'lip skin crisis' which I noticed started during revision for exams where my lips would be constantly (sorry about the tmi) itchy, dry, flaky and sore due to stress but carried on for months after exams. This problem wasn't even confined to my lips, but also to the skin around it which was pretty embarrassing and hard to deal with whilst wearing lipstick. I used countless lip balms, re applying and reapplying over and over and also countless moisturisers and scrubs which didn't help.

I'd heard amazing things about the lush lip scrub over the past year, which made me a bit late on the bandwagon but I was desperate to try this and prayed it would work for me. So I bought the bubblegum scrub out of a choice of: mint, bubblegum and popcorn and rushed home to try it. I wet my face/lips and then applied a small amount to my fingers and just scrubbed all over my lips for around a minute or so. After rinsing on my first try I literally couldn't believe it. My lips had not been that soft since I was about 11 years old and I couldn't stop smacking my lips together and touching them. The dry, flakey skin had gone and I left the house wearing lipstick all day with no peeling skin. Now I use this every morning and night and I do not know how i coped without this! Also, one of the most important features is the AMAZING scent it has, it literally makes me want to eat it as I'm using it.

For £5.50 this is such an amazing price for an incredible product!

Eating Habits/Gym Routine

Now, I don't pretend to be even close to an expert in health/fitness and losing weight, but recently I've been on a health kick and trying to shift a few extra pounds so I just thought I'd do a different post to usual just sharing my current eating habits and routine on a day when i go to the gym, which is usually around 3 times a week.
I like to start the day on a big bowl of porridge as it contains a high amount of fibre, really filling for the day without leaving me feeling bloated and contains complex carbs which digest at a slow pace, rather than simple carbs. My ultimate favourite porridge is the Oat So Simple sachets of golden syrup porridge, that way my portions are already worked out for me, which prevents me from under/over eating. If I don't have porridge, I love a bowl of special K or granola with fruit.

Next, I'd go to the gym, as I much prefer exercising in the morning as I find I have most of my energy then which puts me in a good mood the rest of the day. My gym routine is listed below. Just going to stress that these arent the golden rules of exercise and losing weight, as I don't want to lose more than a few pounds, but its just what I prefer to do. You might find other means of exercise that suit you:
  1. 1.5k run
  2. 4 sets of 30 reps on the inner thigh and outer thigh machines to tone legs
  3. 20 minutes on the bike
  4. 10 minutes on the cross trainer
  5. 10 minutes of rowing
  6. 30 sit ups, plank for 1min, 30 'heel touches', 50 bicycle crunches and 20 'v crunches'
Obviously sometimes if i'm not feeling up to it i'll skip a step or two, or cut some exercises down. I try not to spend too long in the gym, and my plan might not even be efficient to you, because i genuinely don't know what i'm doing, but it works for me!

After exercise, i would usually have a chicken and 3 bean salad, however on this particular day i decided to take these photos, i got so hungry at tesco buying salad supplies I ate sushi on the go instead! However, sushi is a relatively healthier option than quite a lot of on-the-go lunches as its low in calories and contains fish for omega-3.
For a midday snack, my all time favourite snack that I find myself craving everyday is pitta and humous. Even though brown pitta is the healthier option here, i really can't bring myself to enjoy it enough to switch from white. Sometimes I'll also have a piece of fruit.
Finally for dinner, i had grilled salmon and roasted vegetable cous cous! I don't usually eat this much fish but I try to steer clear of red meats as they're high in saturated fats so fish and chicken are substituted in for dinner and lunch respectively. For dessert, i also had a small bowl of greek yoghurt with honey and some fruit.

Obviously everyone has their own eating/exercise plan but I just thought i'd show you what I generally stick to, to maintain my weight and maybe lose a few pounds. I also can't follow this plan everyday and I do have days where I eat whatever unhealthy foods I can lay my eyes on, but I thought i might give some people some inspiration if you're struggling or stuck for ideas. Also, I've found that portion control plays a massive role in weight loss, and eating until you are no longer hungry, than reaaaallyy full up really helps me too, as I used to love the feeling of being completely stuffed but then realised you don't even need to feel that way!

I'd love to hear any suggestions anyone else has and healthy meals to try!

Rachel x

Weekend In Cambridge

I spent the last weekend in Cambridge visiting my friends and had the most relaxed, yet action filled 3 days! I definitely needed it after the past few weeks working-which is why I haven't been able to post as much as I would like to.

Cambridge was such a gorgeous place to spend a few days for a break and I'm so glad I was able to vlog it, as I want to really get into my YouTube more and post a lot more content! Hope you enjoy the video and having a little nosey at what I did, as I always love to nosey at peoples lives!

I've just had an AMAZING relaxing weekend in Cambridge which I did vlog and the video will be up ASAP, but I'm back with a new outfit post which I wore over the weekend because we all know I can't stay away from a bit of white and mesh. This Missguided dress is super light, comfy and perfect for travelling during summer and I carried on the casual theme and teamed it with my new £12.99 running shoes from the Zara sale. I swear that these trainers are the comfiest things I have ever worn and they haven't left my feet since I bought them! They're currently sold out online but hopefully theres still a few stragglers around instores!
