Missguided SS14 Preview

Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the Missguided SS14 Bloggers event just off Bond Street in London. It took 6hrs travelling to get there, i was RIDICULOUSLY tired but it was definitely worth it. The whole room layout and decorations were so cute, with a lot of thought gone into them.

Each rail had a different theme of clothing: pastels, whites, prints, denim etc. and i've included my favourite pieces in the pictures. Tables were laid out with different flavoured meringues and root beer, with people also walking around serving the most amazing frozen yoghurt, nachos and wraps. Cocktails were also served in little unique jars.

The far end of the room was a 'photo shoot' setup, including props, backdrop and a photographer, whose pictures should be up on the Missguided Facebook page sometime soon. I was also so excited over the eyebrow stall in the corner, where my friend also had her eyebrows done. I also cannot forget the DJ and all the bloggers who attended and who I met, as everyone was so lovely and i can't believe i met the lovely Sammi from beautycrush

Attending this has literally made me (especially my bank account) so upset, as I know i'm going to be needing so many of these pieces in my life when they are out!

Cable Knit

JUMPER: ZARA
JOGGERS: TOPSHOP
BOOTS: ZARA

Cable knit sweaters aren't my usual style, however i loved the simplicity and slouchiness of this knit paired with leather joggers. I felt this this is such a basic outfit, yet perfect for those uni days where i have to be up at and ready at 7.30am for a full day ahead.

So sorry but i cannot find any of what i'm wearing online! Really hate it when this happens as things go out of stock so fast. Also, i washed these topshop leather joggers at normal temp and nearly all of the leather effect came off! Just a little tip if you find these in Topshop. A few exciting things happening these week that i can't wait to show on my blog!

Cracked Print

TOP&TROUSERS: ASOS
BOOTS: TOPSHOP

Yesterday i was lucky enough to go and see the Strictly Come Dancing on tour in Liverpool. The show was amazing and the dancers were incredible, i would definitely recommend- even if it is just to drool over Aljaz Skorjanec.

Recently i cannot get enough of cracked print. So much that i bought matching cracked top and trousers..even if they do slightly remind me of pyjamas. This is such a comfy outfit, which i wore with my oversized grey coat to protect from the MISERABLE windy/wet weather here. Didn't show to coat as it would cover the amazing black panel detailing on this!

I'm in a post-exam lull at the moment, which is probably the best feeling. I've enjoyed myself so much the past few days, getting out and doing things i had put off until after exams and i am dreading that Monday morning feel when semester 2 starts-aah.

Cold Shoulder

TOP: OVERIDER*
SKIRT: ASOS
BOOTS: TOPSHOP
CUFF: H&M

Exams are over! I can finally start uploading regularly again and I have soo much coming up that I cant wait to blog. I'm going to watch Strictly Come Dancing tomorrow, i'm so excited and i'll probably blog tomorrows outfit and also some shots of the event.

I was sent this top/dress by Overider, a brand I had never heard of before, and even though i thought it wasn't my kind of style, i put it on and loved it. The material is so soft, and such good quality. Its quite a long top, so can be worn as a dress, however it's quite ruched towards the bottom, so i decided to style it as a top tucked into a skirt, which was quite challenging as you can still see some marks under the skirt-sorry!

Formal Casual

BLAZER: PRIMARK

Sorry about my hair being all over the place in these shots, these were literally the only two pictures where my blazer hadn't fallen off my shoulder, or had my hair literally covering my whole face! I've been after a casual black jumpsuit for so long now, as it beats having to plan outfits in the morning- contributing to my laziness, so i was so excited when i was sent this by Missguided! Its pretty baggy so i opted for a size down, but the style is mainly a casual t-shirt style, paired with a drawstring jogger-type bottom half.

The material is such a good quality, and not what i imagined it to be at all- more like how i'd imagine a smarter, formal jumpsuit.

Familiar Sights

SWEATER: ASOS
TROUSERS: FRENCH CONENCTION
IPAD CASE: RELIGION

I'm officially back to my original outfit shooting location and now that i'm back, it feels as though Christmas and New Year haven't even happened. I'm neck-deep in revision right now so if posts are scarce over the next week or so then its because my head is buried in a text book. I was sent the coat and boots from Missguided and i do have to say, first impressions of these are very decent. The coat is so warm and toasty, which is definitely needed as i feel as though i live in the windiest, coldest place in the UK (probably not). It's also on the small side, so i would definitely recommend a size up if you want it oversized like mine. The boots are great quality, but however do need a fair breaking in, which is standard for most sturdy shoes.

I've shot these pictures with my new DSLR, the Nikon D3100 and up to now I'm really enjoying using it! I still have so much to learn though, so please excuse if the pictures aren't that great. I'm thinking of doing a blog post on this camera when I get to know it a bit more, please let me know what you think in the comments.

Marble Skirt

SWEATER: ASOS
SKIRT: H&M

Recently, I've become a little bit obsessed with all things marble print. I've made it my twitter background and I've been searching through so many online stores just to find any item of clothing that is marble print and call it mine, and then i found this skirt! H&M took the biscuit a little as I ordered it a few days before Christmas and it arrived yesterday, however i love this skirt! Such great quality, and a lovely fit. But alas, I cannot find it anywhere online for the death of me, so I'm hoping it will be in some stores.

Anyone who follows me on instagram would've seen my 'sneak peak' picture of these Zara cut out boots/shoes the other day and I am proud to say these have been my ONLY January sales purchase. For someone who shops probably..constantly, i think it would indicate how good the sales were this year. These will be my last outfit pictures in this spot, with this camera as I'm heading back to uni tomorrow for exams and I have recently purchased a DSLR! So excited to learn how to use it.

Sale Picks

sale picks

Just a few items that have caught my eye in the January sales lately. The two shirts I've included are still quite expensive for anyone on my kind of budget, however I have searched high and low all around the high street for shirts like these and cannot find any! Especially marble printed shirts. If anyone has found any amazing shirts like these please feel free to leave me the links in the comments.

Holographic

SWEATER: ASOS
SKIRT: TOPSHOP

Sequin season is over, and whilst I didn't jump on the bandwagon, I'm hoping holographic skirts still count. I realised that my eyes photographed really peculiar and i think it has something to do with the fact I jammed my eyeshadow brush in my eye (accidentally) a few moments before these were taken.

From a distance, this skirt just looks a shiny silver. However up close is a whole other story, as the holographic effect brings out, almost a subtle shimmer of pinks and greens. Love the fact I can wear colour without actually wearing colour. I bought this a few weeks before Christmas and by then it had sold out online, hopefully a few stores will still have it in!

Wishful Thinking

BOOTS: TOPSHOP
IPAD CASE: RELIGION

Sorry these pictures turned out so yellow... they didn't look like this until i uploaded them to blogger! I am fast running out of clothes whilst at home for the holidays, so sorry if all my past outfits have been so similar. And yep, I do have a furry headband in each colour of the greyscale. I am loving this high necked tunic dress I received for Christmas as it is so versatile, amazing quality and perfect for layering! Thought I would start this post by wishing everyone a happy new year, and also share some of my new years resolutions:

1. Drink more water
For years, I have been staying alive (somehow) literally drinking the bare minimum of water per day. Now that I've turned 20, i think its time to properly look after my body, get rid of these dehydration headaches and drink some more water. Hopefully it'll make me feel so much better and clear some problems with my skin.

2. Get organised
My diary is going to be my 3rd arm this year. No forgetting appointments, skipping lectures and handing in work an hour before deadline for me.

3. Go to the gym at least 3 times a week
Because whats a new years resolution without mentioning the gym?

4. Blog every other day
Going to fully commit to this blog this year, by giving more material to keep everyone interested for at least a day. This probably isn't going to apply for the next 3 weeks as exam period is looming.

5. Be myself
This is the one resolution which is probably most important. I feel as though I am going through a transitional phase in life right now, and a lot of the time its easy to forget who I am when so much is going on. This year I'm really going to try to just do the things i want, wear what I want and try to worry less about how others will judge, as my worst critic is definitely myself.

Hope everyone is enjoying 2014 so far!

Love,
Rachel x
